Goku, also Son Goku, is the main character in the entire Dragon ball series. Goku means aware of emptiness. The ‘Go’ syllable means enlightment and the ‘Ku’ syllable means sky or emptiness. The full name is actually the Japanese name for Sun Wukong, who is the protagonist in the Chinese legend Journey to the west. The Goku character is loosely created based and started off as more or less a parody of Sun Wukong. However, as the manga continued, he was able to develop differently and eventually turn out to have similar origins.
As we know, Goku always makes his appearance with black spiky hair, sporting his trademark orange/red/golden and blue clothes. The vivid look also includes his signature blue boots and a stick used as a weapon.
Generally speaking, you can find three Goku costumes in red, orange and golden respectively in the market today. Whether you scout them in real stores or online boutiques, in most cases you will easily find off the rack costumes fitting your needs offered nicely. When it comes to beginning searching for the right costume, figure out what exactly you are looking for first. A vivid Goku cosplay look involves the costume, including the shirt, belt and matching pants, the spiky wig and his distinct boots in blue.

Prepare the top. Take a blue T-shirt with short sleeves, preferably blue sweat-resistant dry move shirt. Put it on!
Find matching orange pants, preferably baggy. Buy one size larger and resew a drawstring inside the belt loop part of the pants by hiring a seamstress or by yourself. Orange baggy pants can be found as either orange/pumpkin scrubs or plain Gothic pants, but remove chains/symbols alike if any.
Make Goku’s Kanji: Practice drawing the Kanji on a paper till you feel comfortable to take a cloth in the same color as your pants and draw the symbol. And then make a circle about the size of your hands touching each other finger in a circle formation.
Make the same symbol about 4 times bigger and repeat the same Kanji. Place the smaller one on the left chest and the larger one on the back.
Take an orange vest and make sure it is 2-3 sizes bigger than you, something that fills out nice and stops at mid range. Cut a V-neck down to the top of the middle of the chest era and remove all embellishments. After that, add the small piece or simple sew black linen into the left side of the best to make the symbol appear better.
Find a long blue sash. A blue Karate belt is also okay. Fold the left side over the right and then the right over the left and tie a knot.
Make the blue wrist bands. Either buy them online or scout in a local sport shop. Look for a navy/dark blue shade.
Blue boots-well, hard! You can buy them directly from cosplay store if lucky or make them by yourself by alternating the boots-dye them blue and style them to the shape.
Now find a vivid cosplay wig to finish your look! Many cosplay costume stores also carry relevant wigs and the prices are very nice. Perhaps you still need to bring the look up to ultimate with proper make-up.
